MIG - SMTP / IMAP / POP Servers
Managed Internet Gateway - draw your line in the sand
- SMTP
- Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. Most commonly thought of as "sendmail", SMTP is the protocol used to transfer mail between mail servers on the Internet.

- Internet Message Access Protocol. IMAP is a server based message access protocol, allowing messages and folders to remain on the server. Although not
favored by ISP's, due to disk space and server demands, in an office environment it is ideal, providing an easy way to archive mail and easing mail access for mobile users.
- POP
- Post Office Protocol. This staple internet mail protocol
is used by most ISP's to allow clients to read their mail.
